The black and white photography of such famous photographers as Ansel Adams, Atget, Strand, and Evans inspired me to first pick up a large-format camera and pursue black and white photography. When not on assignment, I can be found in the field making photographs - color and black and white. To my eye, each responds best to a different quality of light. Black and white photography, by stripping out color, presents our audience with only texture and composition. It is upon this foundtation that a good photograher learns to place the extra dimension of color.
